Interactive Video by Kaltura

Kaltura

Well, I came across this web 2 tool the other day. Tried to put it into a wiki, with no success, but did manage to upload the code to this blog. Kaltura is an open-source platform for video creation, management, interaction and collaboration.

Web 2.0 Tools For Classroom Use

Today I gave a presentation at the TNC on Web 2.0 Tools For Classroom Use. I would like to thank all those who attended. And I would also like to thank the participants for adding to my knowledge. Many interesting sites were shared and tools discussed as we ventured through the topic of Web 2.0 Tools For the Classroom.
One of the "tidbits" shared was the ability to add audio to Slideshare files.

I spent the rest of the day doing just that---creating an audio file with Audacity, then converting it into an Mp3 file which I uploaded to archive.org. Then uploading my Web 2.0 Powerpoint to Slideshare, adding the URL of the uploaded audio file and editing it all---to create a slidecast.

Believe me when I say that if I can do it, anyone can.

Web 2.0 Tools

I seem to be here a lot lately, but then again it is summer for me and I do have more time to spend. I have been working on a presentation , Using Web 2.0 Tools for the Classroom, that I will be giving this Saturday at the Teacher Networking Center on Eduisland V in Second Life.

I just came across one that I found to be especially interesting and would like to share.

In Google Lively you create an avatar and then chat with your friends in rooms that you design.
Lively is a free, downloadable application that lets you socialize and create rooms in 3-D.
It only uses Windows XP or Vista with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. No Mac as yet.

You create an avatar, with clothing and objects that were created by Google.
You can include photos, or videos from the web, as well embed the Lively into your blog, MySpace or Facebook.
Take a look at the Product Catalog.

Expansion of the Teacher Networking Center

Well, Tek and I finally expanded the TNC. We rented land on Eduisland 5 and have put up a new building there for a conference center.
As well as adding a new building, we have also been busy re-doing the TNC on Eduisland II.
Many changes have taken place.

What Have I Been Up To?

To sum it up---a lot.
Tek and I have both been very busy in the virtual world of Second Life.
Tek has been finishing up her last stage of her doctorate, while I have been immersed in the world of the Teen Grid.
I finally got onto the Teen Grid sometime in February and have really not taken a breath since. Rarely have time to connect with the main grid at times.
Am on the Eye4You Alliance island. many, many events and activities there.
One of my interests that I have developed is machinima. Take a look at the blog that I have created for the teen grid---Majenna.
